Reblog to have something good happen at 1:42 tomorrow
I saw this before I left work last night and had a quiet hope, and today I checked my phone at about quarter to two, while I was still on my lunch break, and I’ve just got a job interview with the BBC next week
I’m not a big believer in anything much but I’m so happy holy shit. So like unrelated note but something real good happened to me at 1.42 today lol
I see a lot of your are conflicted. A lot of you only got on board with Lotor last season when he was “being good” and I totally get that. He’s an attractive character, and wanting him to be good is natural. I see a lot of you calling the writers lazy because they didn’t give you the Zuko redemption arc that you felt you were on course to getting. And I understand that anger, that confusion. Lotor was and always was going to be a villain. And he was a great villain! He was a master manipulator, playing every side to make sure he got what he wanted. And what he wanted was “peace” at any cost, “peace” with sacrifice, “peace” where he alone was the one calling all the shots in the universe. He was twisted, probably insane (how could you not be after being alive for 10,000 years) and played his part perfectly all the way to that bitter end. You guys do not have to feel bad for appreciating a good villain. You guys shouldn’t feel like you could only like him if he was a good guy, that doesn’t make you a shitty person. You don’t condone or support mass murder in real life. You would never sacrifice thousands of innocent people for your own twisted goals. But you can still appreciate Lotor as a character and still love him. Don’t apologize for him, don’t justify the shit he pulled. Don’t try and explain it all away to make it better. Accept Lotor as the villain he was always meant to be, love him, and know that this is fiction and in no way means you are some kind of evil trash lord for enjoying a villainous character. You guys are all amazing fans, so go make some art, go write a fix-it fic, go celebrate the great community we have as Lotor fans. And don’t beat yourself up for loving a villain.
